As Donorfy grows, so does our team. This week, we are very excited to welcome a new face: Mike is our new Senior Developer and helps Donorfy accelerate the delivery of new features. We asked him a few questions about himself – read on to find out what he had to say.
What's your role at Donorfy?
I started working with the development team about 9 months ago, to help the business accelerate the delivery of new features. As Donorfy continues to grow, I hope my software engineering experience will help the business adapt to the challenges and opportunities of increased scale. Since joining the Donorfy team, I've worked on enhanced user permissions, a new menu system, improvements to the dashboard, the API - amongst other things.
How long have you been working in the charity sector and who for?
Although I've helped develop SaaS solutions prior to Donorfy, this is actually my first experience of software development in the charity sector. Most of my career to date has been spent working on software for industries such as aerospace and pharmaceuticals. My only prior formal experience of the charity sector was six enjoyable years spent as a (volunteer) trustee of my local church.
What do you like most about Donorfy?
The Donorfy team has a very clear vision. The whole company is passionate about offering a first class product to the charity sector; they have a deep understanding of the market's needs and how available technology can be employed to provide a cost-effective solution. I particularly like the approach of implementing features in Donorfy where charities need added value, but then integrating with other best-of-breed platforms such as MailChimp to avoid reinventing the wheel.
What do you enjoy doing when you're not working on Donorfy?
I'm a STEM Ambassador, which means taking part in activities such as Code Clubs and the Big Bang Fair to help encourage young people to look at careers in technology. I try to get to live music events when I can. I'm lucky to live at the foot of the South Downs and like to get out hiking whenever possible. I'm a lifelong Sheffield United supporter.
Thanks Mike for taking the time to answer our questions. We wish you the best of luck in your new position at Donorfy. Welcome to the team!
