Could I count on you?
Epilepsy Action’s Could I Count on You? campaign tackled fear and stigma head-on, using powerful, relatable scenarios to help the public understand what it’s like to live with epilepsy, and to build confidence in how to respond when someone has a seizure.
Inspired by the statistic that 1 in 3 people in the UK would be scared to witness a seizure, the campaign reframed fear into empathy, asking a simple, human question: Could I count on you? and inviting the nation to learn, share, and act.
“We set out to replace fear and stigma with empathy and understanding, inspiring the nation to learn what to do and act with confidence when it matters most.”
Reached 7.6 million people via JCDecaux and Acast, plus a further 1.4 million plays on ClearChannel, with 90 pieces of press coverage 📣
Achieved 1.3 million social media reach, supported by volunteers sharing personal stories and amplifying the message across their own networks 💬
Moved Epilepsy Action into the Top 200 charities on YouGov for the first time, marking a major step-change in public awareness of epilepsy 💜

Every Second Counts
BASICS Devon’s Every Second Counts campaign shone a spotlight on the life-saving role of volunteer emergency care doctors in rural communities, where ambulance response times can be longer and outcomes are critically time-dependent.
Built around the real-life story of cardiac arrest survivor Gillian Kirkman, whose life was saved by a BASICS Devon volunteer doctor, the campaign humanised emergency medicine and showed how rapid, advanced intervention at the roadside can mean the difference between life and death.
“I wouldn’t be here without volunteer doctors.”
Featured on BBC South West Spotlight, alongside interviews with clinicians and the survivor, bringing trusted, regional exposure into thousands of homes 📺
Became BASICS Devon’s most popular ever social media post, driving high levels of video views, sharing and website traffic 📲
Led to increased enquiries about donating, volunteering and community defibrillator programmes, demonstrating clear behaviour change and improved public understanding ❤️
